NATIONAL EVENT/BRIEFING FOR BRANCHES SEPTEMBER 9TH

CWU NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION : RT HON NICK CLEGG MP DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER: SATURDAY OCTOBER 9TH 2010 : SHEFFIELD HALLAM
This LTB gives advance notice of forthcoming events for your diaries in order that Branches can begin to discuss travel arrangements etc.

National Event/Briefing for Branches on September 9th - details to follow.

National Demonstration in the Constituency of the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg MP for Sheffield Hallam. Arrangements are still being finalised e.g. clearance with the police and exact route.
Branches should also be aware that arrangements are in hand for a National Lobby of Parliament to take place following the Party Conferences - the exact time and date will be notified in due course.

Any enquiries on this LTB should be addressed to the General Secretary's Office quoting the reference GS 11.0

They've got to appear to be doing something with the subsciptions haven't they? Otherwise we would think they were sitting on their arses in their plush offices raking in their £70k a year wages. I'm looking forward to seeing their faces when they ask for strike action over privatisation! This union has got to go down as the worst in political history. The first ever to negotiate a pay cut for over half their staff.

This company, with the connivance of the CWU, has been carrying on as though it were a private concern for the last 7/8 years, with the result being ever worsening conditions of employment for it's employees, and no hope whatsoever of our situation getting any better at any point in the future.
In fact, even before Labour committed the ultimate betrayal, and pushed wide open the doors to full-blown privatisation, and we had at least the pretence that we were in actual fact, a service wholly owned by the public, for the public, our future was never anything but bleak.
When all is said and done, whether the umbrella we shelter under is public, or private, we will still be treated as though we were less than human beings, and treated more like mules, and no amount of workload lumped on us, no amount of profit RM makes, no amount of staff laid off, will ever, ever, be enough.
And, as a result, Hayes & Ward can go feck themselves if they think I will add weight to their preposterous grandstanding, again.

i just cant get over some folk in my office, with a dely that takes 2 hours, can get one d to d, and i have a dely over 3 15, and get 4 or 5 d to d.

This deal is fookin worse that the one that gave up double time for saturdays, time an a half for o/t ,big bucks for sundays,

I will never forgive the assholes who voted for this new deal.
Drivers keep their driving allowances, and get 20 60 for delivering no d to d.

i really do hope your right tbt, but if im honest with myself i think it will go the same way as other things union are involved in we will get privatisation for some little concession or reward, and im not sure id ever strike again for them after being sold down river last time.

Let's be honest,if TNT or one of the others came up with 3billion last year then it would be in the governments coffers now.

Personally we did not win anything previously,there was no victory of any sort,it was because of the recession and the leaches out there could not raise the cash.

Don't mean to get you down ,but the recession hasn't really got going , you've not seen nothing yet. We have witnessed global structural economic failure that govts. worldwide introduced panic measures to disguise. The failure was not fixed or avoided ,just covered up and its effects delayed. Just wait for the parasites to come looking for the working mans pay and pension to pay for their almighty failure, but the irony is that such actions will only serve to deepen the crisis

Look at what other companies have been through like BT , British Gas and whist competiion effected them privitatisatiion has been repsonsible for removing over 60% of the jobs since 1994.

I have to ask what is so bad that you would not want to support a fight against privatisation ?

I was at a meeting on west london the other day and I can tell you the times for the first wave and second wave for all offices in west london from walk sequencing from premier park was concerning and the union has now been able to change that .

Royal Mail Group apart from the church own the most real estate in the UK, privatisation will mean that the shareholders will want more asset stripping not less. In additon look at what those shareholders would do with the assets contained in our penison scheme.

Now those of you who believe its a foregone conclusion have clearly not been around for long.

We defeated the tories plan in 1994 when they had a majority by the stand by your post campaign.

We defeat the Leighton /Labour plan in 2004 when he wanted a john lewis type sell off, and we defeat the Hooper /Mandy plan in 2009/10

This con lib coalition is already begining to have internal battles over policy from inside their own parties and are weaker for it.

Plus the overall cuts will be felt next year possibly leading to demos on a similar scale to the poll tax.

If anyone belives that privtisation will simply hurt Dave or Billy or the union , then you clearly dont know what you are talking about. Being bitter is clearly effecting your ablity to think properly.

Excellent point. If you don't like the union agreements then put more effort in to change and shape the future, after all it is your union. Yes there is an entrenched and self serving element of the bureaucracy but they only cling on because of the failure of mass participation. If you don't put the effort in en masse then you get what you deserve.
On the flip side ,an organised workforce could bring a privatised RM to bankruptcy within a week or two, guess thats why the big push to tarnish the union
