Royal Mail will receive cash boost

George Osborne yesterday announced the government will seek a cash injection for the Royal Mail Group.

The chancellor said he would press ahead with “long overdue” plans to attract private investment in the flagging institution.

However, the announcement fell short of some predictions that the national postal service would be floated on the London Stock Exchange.

Postal affairs minister Ed Davey admitted this month a public listing was an option for the coalition. Analysts believe a full flotation of the service could rake in as much as £9bn.

"Cash boost" and "Private investment" - positive words, but does anyone other than a Daily mail reader not realise that investors are only intent on screwing every penny they can out of Royal Mail for their shareholders with no interest in the service given to the public ?

So the present Management care about their Customers.

Well they do and is fact, the Customer -the Big mailers not the person receiving the mail.

We no longer collect mail from old peoples home unless they pay so much a year for a box,we no longer hold mail for schools in Holidays unless they pay
for a keep safe.

Birthday cards possibly with a 1p under paid postage not delivered untill a £1.00 surcharge is paid.
A caring Management that makes us deliver in unsafe conditions in winter.

I cant see what the difference a Private Company would make!

Many levels of useless management will go but they will go down fighting and we'll end up paying as heavy a price as they will because they'll be out to prove they're extra tough in forcing things through.

I think Rm have already had a cash injection (loan)
from the previous government, we have still to spend
a few quid yet as well. We have the equipment for
the transformation, so if shares sold, it would either
go to plug the pension defecit(unlikely) as this is a
long term issue, chances are the cash would go
straight to the Tory coffers!!
