Royal Mail profits increased in the last quarter. Who is showing the way forward?

• Royal Mail weighed down by pensions deficit – 13 years pensions holiday – government obligation to pay. If honoured, Royal Mail gains over £280 million extra capital. This alone makes Royal Mail highly successful.

• CWU proposes new products and new services to make Royal Mail more responsive to customers. This includes - introduction of Post Bank; same day deliveries; home collections; and new technologies like Intelligent Mail (trace and tracks in real time)
• CWU campaign having an impact - EDM 428 (147 Labour MPs) - (Division in Cabinet) - national and local demonstrations and lobbies - amendments and arguments in House of Lords via Lord Clarke - Compass Report “Case not Made” - BERR Committee Report says “Case not made” – further Compass report to show alternative.

• Support of rest of Labour movement invaluable - activists in Scotland - support of Scottish TUC -

• TOGETHER WE CAN WIN
