Re: Clegg urges staff stake in Royal Mail
It's good that the Lib-Dem's leader has finally decided to come off the fence
and oppose privatisation of RM. Their MPs have been remarkably silent
so far, as a result of their last party conference's vote to support private
investment in RM. The Parliamentary Party now seems to have
recognised the overwhelming public opposition to privatisation and
hopefully their MPs will now be able to speak out and support the EDM
opposing privatisation.
I agree with his statement that it was the Thatcherite policies of the last
Conservative Government that have led to the current economic crisis.

Re: Clegg urges staff stake in Royal Mail
It helps big time but with the current status of the EDM and with all Liberals added to it the total is still way below what we need.
Best we can hope at the moment is 231 Voting against it but that leaves Labour/Conservatives with 419 votes. Ideally we need another 95 votes to bring us to a majority and thats if everyone who signed the EDM and all the Liberals vote against the bill.
So keep at it CWU and all concerned members still everything to play for.

Re: Clegg urges staff stake in Royal Mail
" Lib Dem ideas would see the Royal Mail run by a "continental-style" staff council with "full employee decision-making".
This is what im interested to know how it would work.
What effect would it have on crozier and the RM board and what effect it would have on the CWU heirachy.
Given the level of dissent expressed on RMC towards the CWU could this be better?
