Dear Colleagues

Keep the Post Public: Media Coverage

The intense media coverage of our campaign to keep Royal Mail wholly publicly owned has continued for the last week.

CWU has featured heavily in broadcast, print and on-line media both nationally and regionally.

Much broadcast media is available to play or listen to again for a week following initial broadcast. Newspapers increasingly post articles online giving you the opportunity to read them on their websites. Click on the below links for some of the main programmes:

Billy Hayes joined others for a live BBC Radio 5 Live debate on the future of Royal Mail, Sunday 1st March 10pm: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00hx5vr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Billy Hayes live on the sofa on BBC Two's Daily Politics show, Thursday 26th February:

Jeff Randall interviewed Billy Hayes exclusively live on Tuesday 24th February on his Sky evening business show: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Topic-Pages ... ndall-Live" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can also see Billy explaining the CWU's campaign to keep Royal Mail wholly publicly owned on various news bulletins on the below links:

Newspapers can be accessed via their own websites. The Union's campaign has been covered in most national newspapers daily throughout the last week.

Again today, the papers cover the campaign. Most interesting coverage today is in The Guardian, (page 4) where Conservatives confirm that the draft bill means that they can sell off more of Royal Mail without further legislation.
Also, The Times carries a story about our campaign itself (page 8) and also comments on divides in Government.

Branches efforts in regional and local media are appreciated. Please follow up all the national stories with local flavour.

Yours sincerely

could not agree with you more mate listened to 5 live programme and he was a disgrace. spoke more about mandelson and back slapping with the labour MP on programme than defending the public service an absolute joke of a leader no wonder we are getting no more support with that ballon talking. surely dave ward can do a better job or like you say you or i folk with some bottle. he is just looking after number 1 when it all goes tits up
