What role would other firms do?
If the dreaded privatisation ever happens what would the other firm do collections? HGV? I can't see delivery work taken up

Probably everything, apart from delivering the stuff.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: What role would other firms do?
Yep ,delivery is unavoidably labour intensive ,therefore difficult and profit poor. But if you split an integrated service and apportion costs arbitrarily ( as RM have done previously) ,then you can massacre terms and conditions in delivery by saying they should be able to complete for 0.35p per item

Re: What role would other firms do?
Theres alot of posties who think *if* privatisation happens you'll be wearing TNT shirts and outside firms will be running and owning buildings etc. This is not how privatisation works.
Its quite simple.
The Govt swap or sell a peice of RM (believed to be 33%) to a private INVESTOR. In return they get management rights and sit on the Company board making decisions. No buildings or Mail Centres will be hived-off to TNT, none of that nonsense. Day to Day you will not see much difference, except strategically, some of the half-wit RM managers will have to take orders from the new management. Which might not be a bad thing.
Dont get me wrong I am totally against any form of privatisation.
