It appears to me that Lord Mandelson must have been in contact with TNT before the Hooper report was completed. To believe that he took only a few weeks to read and digest the report and then contact TNT or put out to tender his idea defies belief. Mandelson is responsible to no one except Brown so he will take no notice of MPs. 6 years as the EU commissioner for trade Mandelson has filled his boots and is looking for more. This man is a tory through and through!

Phil Wolas' argument against Tebbitt was that Labour had to stop the Tories privatising RM in the 90s. What sort of argument is that ffs? Labour want to shaft RM now. Forget about what happened in the past.

Another interesting comment he made was that TNT would expect to make a profit from their buy-in of Royal Mail. So where is this profit going to be extracted from, exactly?

Higher prices?

Cutting back on services?

The more I think about this plan the more it makes me angry. If the Govt get away with this I'll never vote Labour again. Not matter how bad the governing party is...What really grates with me is the fact the PO has only spent 1/3 of the money given to it by the Government. Use that to modernize and let's not have TNT cone in and reck the service.

Anything other than a full publicly owned Royal Mail, well the CWU should make a quick sharp exit from the Labour Party and cut off all funding. Let them sink if they,re not prepared to listen to their own grass roots supporters.
