Mandelson urged to drop Royal Mail privatisation plans

Campaigners are calling on Lord Mandelson to ditch his plans for the partial sale of the Royal Mail.

They want the Business Secretary to back their plan to turn the network of post offices into a new "People's Bank".

Lord Mandelson sparked outrage with plans for the part privatisation of the Royal Mail which could see a third of the business sold to foreign investors.

Rebel Labour MPs and union leaders are now urging him to back their scheme to keep the Royal Mail in public hands and safeguard thousands of jobs.

Writing exclusively in the Sunday Mirror, former Labour deputy leadership candidate Jon Cruddas spells out his vision for the People's Bank which he insists would help millions of families struggling in the credit crisis.

Am I being stupid or something, but did'nt the Hooper Report say POL should stay in government control and Royal Mail be part privatised? But the impression I'm getting with the press reports the PO's will be part of the part privatisation package aswell.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

You are correct about Hooper, no mention of parcleforce ownership in Hooper that I can see of either.
