50 x10,000 = 50 people divided into 10 = 9 family or friends plus themselves.... = 500,000

Not rocket science is it?
No simple mathematics.

10 directors + only 4 family members each gives you the 50 people needed to apply for 10,000 shares each if they were purchasing 500,000 shares. They were looking to purchase around £500,000 worth of shares not 500,000 shares. The 50 people applying for 10,000 shares would get something like £1.65m worth of shares if the share price is £3.30 and they received all their requested allocation.

If the 10 directors apply and receive only 10,000 shares each that would be around £330,000 if the share price is £3.30.

Mathematics was never a virtue, thanks awfully verging for your assistance :thumbup

The average postman working full-time earns a pay package of nearly £25,000, while Miss Greene enjoys a pay package of around £1.5million a year.
I have never earned anywhere near £25k in any year i've been a postman.
I am under average :cry

......Like all Royal Mail workers, Miss Greene will get a chunk of free shares, estimated to be worth around £2,000 for each worker.

They could make an instant profit of more than £700 as the shares are set to rise sharply when conditional trading begins on the stock market on Friday, possibly jumping from £3 to £4.

But Miss Greene and her ten fellow directors also want to buy shares in the flotation, according to the company’s prospectus.

Buried on page 214, it states: ‘The directors have indicated to the company that they intend to make applications in the offer for an amount equal to, at least, approximately £500,000, in aggregate.’

The executives will benefit from the same ‘priority’ given to Royal Mail’s workers when applying for shares and can apply for as many shares as they wish within the tranche that has been set aside for staff.

If that part of the offer is oversubscribed then they will be subjected to a £10,000 limit.

But the executives will be hoping that many of their lower paid staff will simply not have the financial resources to apply for more shares. The average postman working full-time earns a pay package of nearly £25,000, while Miss Greene enjoys a pay package of around £1.5million a year......
...But the executives will be hoping that many of their lower paid staff will simply not have the financial resources to apply for more shares...

Are your really being f'king serious !!!! > That one sentence displays it's roots what the people at the alleged head of RM think of the people 'beneath' them.

Been there and seen CEO's getting rich from the rest of the company. If there was ever a person who needed to take part in a reality tv show i.e 'Back to the floor' - then she is one of them.

Moya, how you can sleep well at night knowing or actually not understanding what is going on at the core of this business is frankly terrifying. It's easy to fill oneself with 'yesmen' and only hear what you want to hear.

And I'm sure that once you have received the additional nice ( kept quiet ) bonus for privatizing the company ( has that been announced anywhere yet ! hmmm ) Then maybe you'll decide to retire. - I'm 100% behind you. This company does need to change. Maybe you'll be the first to lead the way and leave.

Very poor state of affairs for this company.

Looking at whats happening now, there was a limit to the amount of shares you could apply for,£750 up to £10,000.(but nobody knew this at the time)If you applied for more, say £10,001 you get f**k all,so hopefully all those bastards at the top who where hoping to make a killing will have to kiss my arse :dance

There could be some very unhappy faces at the next senior meeting of the management board of RM ... unless of course Cable/Osbourne tipped them off or struck a deal :silenced

Have you got your facts rights. Not sure you have if you applied via Royal Mail I think you still get £10000

Is that right, then because we had priority we could have had as many shares as we wanted?
