Is privatising the Royal Mail viable?

wow guys i think youve gone alittle overboard with your perceptions of privatisation.

you can still be in a union if your unemployed or self employed .it doesnt just stop
any firm coming in wouldnt be able to drop your wages ,most probably just not give you a pay rise till its at a level they want.
new comers would come in a lower rates,terms and conditions
i dont think they can change any terms and conditions of your original contract,if taken over.
there will always be job continuation.

you quite correct,nobody would want the whole business so its a mute point.
if they ever did im sure very soon after they would complain they cant deliver to the far flung corners for 36 p and either zonal pricing or no daily service.

personally i think it will be like the trains.differant regions differant prices complete chaos.

but the bright side is the government of the day will get our 40 billion pound pension pot to spend on expenses probably

At the end of the day if the pension black hole is sorted Royal Mail should have a healthy future?

BTW - what happened to Leightons prediction of 60% f/t & 40% p/t? Does this still stand?
