Selling off individual business units is a no brainer, too costly in the long run. And job losses...The Govt will be keen to keep redundancies to a minimum given the current economy. Like i say - it will be a bodge job with Mail Centre closures and rationalisation. Not much else.

Quadrant and Romec are still partially owned by RM - I think they will sell them off.

Other support functions are pay, uniform, admin support (stationary and stuff), HR, sales, PR etc

I think T.N.T will look at taking the distribution operations over they and all the other companies will never set foot near a delivery office nor any of the mail center's unless they de-unionized them and made the working condition's like amazon. NOT LIKLY IF WE ALL STAND TOGTHER AS ONE!.

RM wouldn't get much for its holdings in RoMEC & Quadrant, because of market conditions. Nowhere near enough to help modernise the business. I dont know of any company that outsources its HR function given that its a core service. Uniform and Stationory i believe RoMEC already do some of this maybe the business will hand it all over to RoMEC, but it would be superficial in my opinion.

Maybe Parcelforce would be a better option...

In our office we have more duties than staff. Finally, after months of dithering & pointing the finger of blame at us posties for spiralling costs over budget they finally agreed we need at least 9 new staff. Unfortunately the manager cannot make that decision and passed it to the cluster manager. He wont make that decision and is passing it up to the area manager who in turn will pass it up the regional manager. At some point I'm sure Gordon Brown will pass it up to E.U. for a decision.
Now that the manager knows we need more staff he came out the other day and started talking about projected savings for next year. The silence was particularly effective and his poor little chubby face crumpled as he slithered back into his office.
It is unbelievable that on the one hand we are so short staffed that he is relying on bods from other offices as well as the ones in our office he hasn't p*ssed off yet and on the other he wants to sook up the cluster managers backside with talk of savings.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

God knows "what you heard on the grapevine today" Agent Yorkie, but rest assured I'll still be here when you're asking the local chav if he wants relish on that burger. I do wonder about the quality of your life though, when you feel the need to post such weird stuff on here. :hmmmm
