Induction
Induction provides the opportunity for Royal Mail Group to welcome an employee into their new role, introducing them to the business goals, structure, values and culture whilst supporting the individual to gain a sound understanding of their roles and responsibilities which will benefit them as they integrate into the new environment.

What's the score with this Fish,is it new or just something you've recently got hold of.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: New entrant induction process
So,no mention of the below...
http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 2&p=171672" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;5.2 Fixed Walk
For a minimum of the next 6 weeks wherever possible New Entrants will be provided
with a fixed duty in order that they can embed their new learning through a fixed
walk.
To help to facilitate this:
• Vacant delivery duties at the time will normally be covered by New Entrants. The
duties will however still be filled on a permanent basis as per the Way Forward
Agreement/compliant local resourcing practices but the new duty holder will not
take up the post until the end of the 6 week training period.
• Where the only vacancies are leave reserves or floaters a suitable Delivery duty
may be identified and agreed locally with the CWU (preferably in advance) to
designate a training walk for that New Entrant. This duty can again still be signed
for but on the proviso that it is vacated whenever new entrant training is required.
The duty holder will have first choice of any other vacant duties during this period.
3
Where a delivery cannot be identified to isolate for a 6 week period the New Entrant
will be given additional support i.e. they will receive a day shadowing on the first day
of each of the 6 weeks. It should be noted that stability on 1 walk for 6 weeks should
always be the principle aim as this alternative will be disadvantageous for the new
entrant and may have practical difficulties. This aspect will therefore be closely
monitored and jointly reviewed.

Re: New entrant induction process
mine four years ago was
day one - help prep, go out with industrial estate walk
day two - drive van ( 600 ) with said walk holder
day three - do have walk with walk holder, then left on my own for the other half
day four - do whole walk by myself
was helped with prep for whole week though
week two, three and four was left on this walk
week five, one days training on a bike round ( not been on a bike for 25 years ) then left to own devices after that, then put on different walks every week with no training and sent out blind.
however two weeks before my first year was up I was put down to 25 hours and could'nt do anything about it :(
now have a settled round where 3/4 is thrown in for me each morning but have to prep my own d2d's and packets etc.

Re: New entrant induction process
Mine was:
Day 1: Induction
Day 2: Out on 1/2 a delivery with coach.
Day 3: Left on a full delivery with another newbie.
This was about 10 days before Xmas.

Re: New entrant induction process
Just for a giggle.
Basically Royal Mail's license conditions as far as training is concerned.
4 Training Relevant Employees
4.1 If a regulated postal operator employs or uses Relevant Employees, the regulated
postal operator must:
(a) establish, maintain and adhere to a training policy that provides for Relevant
Employees to receive initial and ongoing training so as to facilitate
achievement of the Mail Integrity Objectives; and
(b) allocate responsibility to specific personnel within its organisation for the
implementation of and compliance with that policy.
4.2 Without prejudice to the generality of paragraph 4.1, all Relevant Employees must be
informed of the provisions of sections 83 and 84 of the Postal Services Act 2000 and
made aware of the seriousness of the offences detailed in those sections.
4.3 The training policy should include:
(a) the levels of training required to facilitate achievement of the Mail Integrity
Objectives;
(b) the levels of training required according to the differing responsibilities of, and
work undertaken by, Relevant Employees in relation to Code Postal Packets;
(c) details of the minimum level of training required;
(d) an explanation of how the training will be provided;
(e) the frequency with which training should be provided; and
(f) details of how training is to be given, recorded and monitored.
4.4 Regulated postal operators must reasonably regularly monitor implementation of and
compliance with the training policy.
4.5 Regulated postal operators must reasonably regularly review the training policy and,
where necessary, update or amend the policy to ensure that it continues to meet the
Mail Integrity Objectives.
I think that would be #havingalaugh on Twitter.
