Royal Mail Group – Coronavirus – A Reminder of the Latest Advice – Issued Wednesday 26th February 2020

Further to LTBs 033/20, 043/20, 054/20, 063/20, 071/20, 080/20 and 093/20 including the latest UK Government information on the outbreak of Coronavirus in China and other Countries, including the current situation in the UK as issued by UK Government agencies on 26 February 2020, namely the Department of Health and Social Care, Public Health England and the UK’s Chief Medical Officers, please see attached copy of the latest Royal Mail Group HQ Coronavirus communication and advice issued on 26 February which will be cascaded out via WTLL sessions.

In summary the communication covers the important areas of:-

Maintaining Good Hand and Personal Hygiene Standards

As with all mail handling and all other roles, good hand and personal hygiene should be maintained to minimise the risk of any cross-infection of all colds, flu, viruses etc., which are very common at this time of year.

Hands should be washed frequently. Disposable gloves are available to all staff on request through their line manager as a recommended additional precaution. As part of good hygiene and ‘housekeeping’ antiseptic wipes are also available for wiping over handheld shared items such as PDAs, finger scanners and also multi-use keyboards.

Travel Advice

This is also covered and is as detailed in previously issued LTBs to date based on UK Chief Medical Officer and Government Agency advice.

Advice to Employees and Managers

In relation to employees returning from listed affected areas needing to speak to their line manager before returning to work and in relation to situations where an employee has attended work after returning from one of the listed affected areas but has subsequently been advised to self-isolate as a precautionary measure.
