LTB 500/18 - Flu Inoculation Voucher

No. 500/2018

31st August 2018

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS

Dear Colleagues,

Flu Inoculation Voucher

At Postal Conference 2018, Motion 38 was submitted by Newcastle Amal and we accepted the motion.

Motion 38: This Conference notes that this year’s flu jab offering from Royal Mail was too little, too late; and that WTLL sessions and offers of a flu jab in January 2018 were too late to combat an already flourishing flu epidemic.

Conference therefore instructs the Postal Executive to seek agreement with Royal Mail Group to ensure that the provision of flu jabs is both communicated and administered as early as possible prior to the onset of winter.

Upon returning from conference, we entered into negotiations with Royal Mail to ensure any such initiative this year would be done in a timely manner in line with the motion.

Royal Mail will be offering the free flu jab to all employees in Royal Mail Group who have or are expected to be working for 12 weeks. You can get the jab by presenting a voucher, along with your Royal Mail ID card, at any branch of Lloyds Pharmacy. Vouchers will be sent with the September Courier. The inoculation is available from 17 September through to 31 December 2018 and it is advised to have it as early as possible before the virus becomes widespread in the autumn and winter months.

Communications will begin next week and continue through September. The communications are attached to this LTB, along with a Question and Answer sheet.

Any enquiries regarding the content of this LTB should be addressed to the PTCS Department, quoting reference 411. Email address: khawkins@cwu.org

Yours Sincerely,

Carl Maden.

Acting Assistant Secretary
