I would refer you to LTB 896/07 and LTB 799/07 - PLEASE READ AND RESPOND.
A national survey of all Mail Centres is underway to determine where the misuse of Carboard Sleeves in York Containers is taking place.
To date the Health Safety & Environment Department has received replies detailing the situation in 36 Mail Centres from the existing 69 and the situation so far is 30 are misusing cardboard sleeves in York Containers and 6 are not using them, some stating that they had ceased the use of Cardboard but that it had recommenced over recent months.
Royal Mail HQ are well aware of the situation at those Mail Centres listed in LTBs 896/07 and LTB 799/07 and the MCMs have received a letter from Mark Wythe National Container Control Manager pointing out the misuse. Area Representatives covering the listed Mail Centes may wish to question MCMs about it or put pressure on with a Registered Disagreement.
I would refer you to the national survey of all Mail Centres and would ask those that haven't yet replied to do so ASAP either by Phone, e-mail, letter or fax ASAP.
Once the national survey is completed the results will go to Royal Mail HQ with talks on the action to be taken to get rid of the Cardboard Sleeves can commence.
Yours Sincerely
Dave Joyce
National Health, Safety & Environment Officer

YORK CONTAINERS - MISUSE OF CARDBOARD SLEEVES:UPDATE.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

i refuse to use cardboard shrouds in yorkies, and i advise others to do so, although people being people still continue to use them, and its not as
if they are using brand new strong ones, they are using battered ill-fitting ones.
its like banging your head against a brick wall.
Also, as the cardboard shrouds run out, some staff have taken to sorting direct into RSC's...
in 3 months time it will be these same people who are all moaning about bad backs!
