The attack on Copley Avenue, Meltham, on July 9, left Jason Lee with horrific injuries

Police will not be taking action against the owners of a dog that bit a large chunk from a postman’s arm.

The attack on Copley Avenue, Meltham, on July 9, left Jason Lee with horrific injuries.

Police have said they cannot prosecute because the incident took place in a private garden.

Royal Mail has not confirmed if it will be taking any private action on behalf of its injured employee, who required plastic surgery to his arm.

The company is still refusing to deliver post to the home of the dog owners and three neighbouring properties.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “Following a risk assessment carried out on July 19, four addresses remain affected.

“Their deliveries will be resumed as soon as Royal Mail is satisfied that our people will not be at risk.

“We are working with the owner of the dog to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

“In the meantime, these customers can continue to collect their mail from Holmfirth Delivery Office.’’

They should, at the very least, be banned from owning any more animals of any description ever again.
Hopefully, the postie in question will sue.
And, as it's likely he has had some amount of sick leave, pretty sure RM will attempt to recover that money, for his wages and those of the person covering him while off.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Agree with you totally and probably dog destroyed if injures where so bad and yes he should take a private prosecution. Maybe they should set a donation for him so he can get the best legal representation you can get. I would certainly contribute

Its local to me and although I don't know him, I do know people who are friends with him. Its unlikely he will ever come back to work by the looks of it, and he is in for months, if not years of re-constructive surgery.

The injury is horrific
