Dear Colleague

York Capacity Review

Further to LTB 861/11 circulated to Branches/representatives on the 12th October 2011.

At the formal review meeting held on the 7th November 2011 it was agreed to hold a further meeting early in 2012 in order to give colleagues in the field the opportunity to provide input into the deployment of the York Capacity Review project, taking into account the mail operation over the Christmas Pressure period.

The meeting held on the 7th November 2011 highlighted a few Health & Safety issues relating to mail presentation, which Dave Joyce has subsequently addressed. However, from an operational perspective no problems were reported at that time. While this was seen as a positive from a project viewpoint it was acknowledged by both the business and the Union, that the project would benefit from a further review taking into account the more robust challenge the Christmas Pressure period presented for the overall mail handling operations, insofar as York Containers is concerned.

It is against this backdrop that Branches/representatives are invited to submit a report to their respective Officers detailing any local difficulties that they may have or continue to experience. It would also add value to the forthcoming review if we could also be informed of any positive aspects that may have come about as a result of this initiative being deployed.

The date for the review meeting is Thursday 16th February 2012 and therefore it would be appreciated if reports could be sent to CWU HQ by Monday 13th February 2012. Your assistance in this regard is appreciated.
