It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Presumably ulds refer to unit load devices, can't say that i have ever come across the SSOW for ulds, but suggest that original poster performs a google search.

Yep - ULDs or Igloos are Unit Loading Devices (big low level boxes used to carry cargo on planes).
There should be a copy of the SSoW in the central SSoW book, in the transport office or in the work area. Your H&S rep should be have or be able to locate a copy. As far as I can remember the highlights / lowlights are:
Safety footwear must be worn
WAM and only the WAM is allowed to operate the hydraulic system to move the ULD from back of lorry onto the roller bed
ULD emptying task must be rotated, I think you are only allowed to spend around 5-10 mins working inside the ULD then come out
Min of 3 people to move ULD along roller bed- mandatory 4 people to negotiate bends
locking lugs must be pulled up and bracing blocks must be put in place.
