European Health & Safety Week 2011 Begins
 
European Health and Safety Week begins today on 24 Monday October with this year's theme being "Safe Maintenance" and safe workplaces which is the second year of a European wide 2 year campaign.

European Health & Safety Week in BT will focus on safe driving and maintenance and Comms have already gone out in the October Health and Safety news which includes a link to the SharePoint website.

BT will setup a R2L activity within Openreach which highlights the week and links to the website so that people can get hold of useful materials.

On the SharePoint website already are tips for driving in Snow and Ice, Autumn driving tips, vehicle check sheets as well as videos for inspecting trailers and commercial vehicles. Also included is the material in the Winter Wellness campaign and it will be re-briefed again closer to December.

BT will continue to add materials to the site if people have any useful suggestions.

There will also be a poster campaign in conjunction with the BT Unions that will be appearing in BT buildings this week.

The main aim of the week is to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving and safe maintenance and in creating a safe workplace by promptly identifying and reporting any item of equipment or fixtures and fittings that need repair or replacement.
