DISABILITY CHAMPIONS

Letter to Branches

No. 805/2011
Ref: LR/FH/JR
Date 22nd September 2011

To: All Branches

Dear Colleague

DISABILITY CHAMPIONS

As a result of an initiative that came out of the recent Equal Rights 1 course at Alverscot, I am pleased to confirm that we have set up a provision to enable both reps and members better visibility in identifying support relating to complex disability issues.

The Equal Opportunities Section on the CWU website (http://www.cwu.org/equal-opportunities.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) now contains a list of persons who have completed the Disability Champions course. The list covers a wide geography, so in theory, we are hopeful that the vast majority of CWU members should have reasonable access to this resource.

We are conscious that the list is not complete. For any Disability Champion who is not currently on the list and would like to be included, we would be grateful if you could contact Nicola Chapple in the Communications Department, who will be able to update the list on an on-going basis.

Any enquiries please address to the Equal Opportunities Department.

Yours sincerely

Linda Roy
Assistant Secretary

I hate the term 'Champion', it's just one of those f****** management speak terms that seem to be taking over the world..................now let's run that up the flag pole and see what way it flies
