Magnum footwear, Winterproof?

I've got the RM issue Magnums, but...
If I buy the top-of-the-range Magnum high boots myself, will RM get all humpy if there's a "Trip/fall" event?

I know that any excuse will be utilised to ensure that blame is apportioned to the Postie, so is doing this opening a can of worms for myself?

I tend to find the Mangums we have are inferior in some ways, and aren't rain/cold/snow-proof in any shape or form.
Doc Martens are better, but Magnum do some great Winter high boots. We had about 2ft snow, and 5ft drifts this Jan and it lasted for 4-6 weeks.
For the comfort and extra protection, I don't mind forking out the cash.

Any advice welcomed, ta, but don't mention Wales v S.Africa. It's a bit raw still...

Waterproof socks and issue footwear..................unless RM start issuing socks.

With a range of options available you can bet RM got a good deal on a couple of thousand cheap Magnums. I'm not too impressed with them they seem pretty shoddily made. The toecaps look as if they're "Peeling Off" I'd always choose a decent pair of Leather boots, but nowadays the youngsters just don't like them...It's the Trainer Generation = Weak Ankles. Had the same problem in the Forces, new recruits weren't used to wearing Heavier Mid-Calf Footwear.

As for any accidents just tell them you had the issued footwear on. Unless the DIM rushes out of his Office to administer First Aid in the street he's not likely to make a note of your footwear is he? In the Winter I wear 4 Season Leather Walking Boots, which cost a couple of hundred quid (don't worry I do a lot of off duty walking as well), I can't see RMs cheap n cheerful boots being any more effective at their job. I've had them for about 6 years so they're probably more cost effective than 6 pairs (winter only) of crappy RM footwear that I would have had over the same period!

Anyone who gets an AOD should get the footwear slip tested . Looks like the old spec substandard issue is back in circulation, lets hope it's an error rather than a cost saving thing

Weird thing is, for hillwalking, the £16 boots I used had exceptional grip, but the insides collapsed. Full refund, no quibbles from Sports Direct with invoice.
And, my £120 Berghaus top-of-the-range boots, Goretex etc, are pretty crap in the wet.
Go figure!

I'll play it by ear and hope the Snow God's don't get all techy again.

with park & loop & pounding the streets for hours why do they not supply us with proper walking shoe ? we could have a light weight pair for dry weather & waterproof pair for shite weather !! RM should look at someone like cotton traders as we probably deliver their catalogues for next to nothing !!

Doc Martins, They're waterproof and have excellent grip. The only con is they take a bit of breaking in. I'm sure the last RM pair I had a few years ago were not steel toe-capped but my current pair are which took longer to bed in. I would recommend the Cats as they are really springy and comfortable but my feet get soaked if it rains and they are dangerous as far as grip is concerned. On those stone tiles that some houses have they seem to have anti-grip and slide around like a goat on rollerskates trying to cross a buttermountain!

They got 3 points and a £40 fine for each boot that didn't have enough tread showing! And they weren't allowed out on Delivery until they'd got a new set of boots!
