How come RM didn't alert their staff to the suspect devices which have been reported in Scotland recently? so much for duty of care.

They are very rare (although Lennon seems to attract more than anyone else I know) so it's not really something to get worried about, of more concern would be syringes in postboxes (potentially more dangerous and definitely more worrying).

CWU concerned for postal workers' safety in parcel bomb scare

The Communication Workers Union has today (Wednesday) raised concerns for postal workers' safety in Scotland following revelations about parcel bombs in Scotland, most recently sent to Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
John Brown, CWU Scotland regional secretary, said: "We condemn the mindless moron responsible for putting lives at risk by sending dangerous packages through the post.
"These parcels are designed to do damage to the recipient, but they will be handled by dozens of postal workers in workplaces where hundreds more staff are, not to mention the proximity to members of the public.
"We're also very alarmed by the handling of this case which we believe may have breached health and safety rules and unnecessarily put postal workers at risk. No information was shared with staff as late as yesterday and many of our members heard about the parcel bomb scare on the news this morning on their way to work.
"The safety of postal workers and the public is our main concern and we are working with Royal Mail on this. We will be seeking answers about the handling of the case in coming days."
