LTB No. 337/11 Ref N4/11 Date: 4 April 2011
To: All Branches
Dear Colleagues
RE: Workers Memorial Day 28th April - Launch of CWU Workers Memorial Garden - Alvescot Lodge:
This is just to remind you that Workers Memorial Day is on Thursday 28th April.
Please encourage all Branch and H&S Reps to locate and participate in WMD Events in your Regions and localities.
The TUC will be publishing a list of UK WMD and the Health, Safety & Environment Dept will circulate information as it becomes available to us.
Launch of CWU Workers Memorial Garden - Alvescot Lodge:
The Health, Safety & Environment Dept and the Education and Training Dept would like to sincerely thank all the Branches and individuals who have made various donations to our new CWU Workers Memorial Garden.
At Midday on WMD 28th April the CWU's Health, Safety & Environment Dept and Education and Training Dept will formally launch and open the new CWU Workers Memorial Garden at the CWU Education and Training Centre, Alvescot Lodge, Bamptom, Oxon, OX18. 2PU
Incorporating tributes to past CWU members and reps as well as a place for reflection on all workers who are killed and injured at work, the CWU Workers Memorial Garden will be an ongoing and growing project as well as a symbolic place for the labour movement for generations to come. The garden will provide a real focal point for our dual commitment to worker solidarity and is the result of the collective hard work and determination of the CWU leadership, branches and staff.
