CWU 'Bite-Back' Campaign To Change Dangerous Dogs Act - Joint CWU/RSPCA letter to MPs and Lords:

Further to previous LTBs and reports, branches will know that we have been working closely with the RSPCA in our efforts to convince and press the coalition government to change the Dangerous Dogs Act in England and Wales in line with the changes in law shortly to be made in both Scotland and Northern Ireland as a result of our campaign. With a government announcement imminent in response to the Defra public consultation we are maximising efforts to lobby and pressurise the Westminster Government in a number of ways. Having gained the support of a large number of organisations and back bench MPs and Lords, this has been done via direct representations to Ministers, formation of a cross-party MPs working group, working with GLA, House Of Commons meetings, Private Members Bills, Ten Minute Rule Bills/Motions, Adjournment Debates, Written and Verbal Questions and Early Day Motions etc.


Please see attached for you information a copy of a joint CWU/RSPCA letter, that has been sent to all MPs and Lords and Ministers in furtherance of our campaign. We are continuing to maximise the number of MPs signing Early Day Motion 1202 (copy attached) and would like to thank those Branches and Reps that have asked their local MPs to sign the EDM, supporting the efforts of the Health, Safety & Environment Dept. Further reports and updates will follow.
