How many trays allowed in a york?

I believe a york can be filled to the top with trays (empty or full) providing it does not exceed the weight limit (250kg). Is this correct? There is some disagreement about this in my office. Does anyone have a copy of the relevant SSOW?

It used to be 20 full trays but now they just pile them up as high as they can (must be the falling mail volumes again).

5 high in our MC - that's 20 on a Yorkie, but not over 250kg.

in our office walk sequenced mail comes up on a york stacked to the top no way of knowing how heavy the york id they removed the scales so they couls put bigger fittings in so they could cut the walks

We got one from the MC, which i had to get up an 8 inch step into my office ( which is how i have totally f****d up my Knee ) and it weighed 434 Kilos.

Luckily for me the manager was watching me struggle with it at the time it happend and he pushed it through the rest of the office and onto the scales to weigh it.

So my question is this a record weight or can someone else beat it.

We've had a couple of 400kg+ yorks but i don't think any beat yours geezer.
Usually happens during IA when they let the managers loose in the M/C.

ours happend because the old DSM wanted to take out some 750 lorries and he forgot about our office so put it on with another offices to gey it to us.
This went on for months before they put a run back in to our DO.Now we get a run from the MC which is 80+ miles away even though the artic drops off half empty
to the bigest DO near us which is 15 miles away.We used to collect ours from the artic when it came in there, but now we have no 750 to pick it up so instead they send one out
with the artic to shadow him all the way and then on to us.

it IS 20 (with mail) for a reason, and, this is because the gross weight of a york container must not exceed 250kg.
This is not a target to try and achieve but a limit.
the gross weight of a tray is not to exceed 10kg, again this is not a target.
the reason a tray is 10kg is so that ANYONE asked to move a tray from point A to point B is entitled to expect, and would be right in thinking, that the weight of the tray will not be more than 10kg.
= 20 trays x 10kg = 200kg
+ 50 kg for the net weight of the york = 250kg
250= gross weight of a york container.

neither the 250kg nor the 20 trays per york (with mail) container must be exceeded.
you should not be stacking 25 or 30 trays in a york

nothing must be stacked higher than the container itself, so stacked empty trays should not be more than 16 high = 48 in total.
