Information Please on Dog attacks

Hello I wonder if anyone can help me. I’m a dog trainer from West Sussex I I’m trying to find out more about the type of help and training given to the post office staff on how to deal with dogs and what techniques and equipment are supplied to postmen and women if any. I would be very grateful if anyone could help. :)

I've just looked in the big 'Welcome' booklet I was given on joining Royal Mail and in the three pages covering Safety and accidents can't find any mention of dogs, so it doesn't look like one of their priorities.

Only advice given at wtl is don't stare at dog ,don't run and try to use pouch bag as shield .

really easy to hump a 16kg bag off your shoulder in seconds and fend off a dog that wants to chew ur ass

and that's assuming you have Work Time Learning sessions to be told that !

Especially if you're wearing the bag in the recommended way to prevent back pain

There is information given in the Dealing with Dog Attacks - Good Practice Guide especially in pages 7-13. Every Delivery Office Manager should have a copy of this.

Dog survived, I suffered
Tried to claim for 1 after waiting for cwu lawyers for almost 3yrs (nearly out of time ) they decided claim would not succeed as they cound'nt prove the dog had bitten someone before ????????

new thread here I think! me, well, finger,(two weeks off infected and needed daily draining and dressing)
thighs (both) after being stalked by two dogs who jumped on me from behind--back of hand ,by same dog on more than one occassion, always out walking on lead, but always lunged, despite assurances 'he's a good dog'--and THOUSANDS of near misses!
