Fall help..

Can any Posties tell me the best procedure here...I fell down a flight of uneven steps on my delivery hurting my back a few months ago..I reported it and filled in the accident form with my line manager....The problem is i am in some discomfort from it and still am (was hoping it would clear up its self)..Now i have been to the Doctor and he tells me that i have a trapped nerve in my back and lifting any weights ain't helpfully..What is the next step for me ?.. Can anyone tell me what the correct procedure is in these matters are...cheers.

As long as you reported it at the time. I had an injury after a fall wich was misdiagnosed and I worked for over a year before finally having an op.Don't let them ut pressure on you, and if doc says your normal job is not advisable, get him to sign you off. your back will only get worse.

Ask your manager to refer you for an ATOS appointment.

This should only take a week or so to arrange.

The first appointment will usually be by telephone where you should make sure they know you have an ongoing problem. This will lead to a face to face appointment and possibly ATOS referring you for treatment paid for by RM.

If your manager refuses to refer you or takes too long doing so, you can contact HR and get them to do it. IIRC there is an ATOS helpline number on the RM intranet that you can use to phone them directly for help. This number should also be available from your CWU rep.

Hi, if you fall at work and it is not your fault you can sue RM for a tidy profit. try ringing these people at Claims Direct, i saw them on the television yesterday and i have a good memory so i searched for the number. good luck in claiming expenses due to missed time off work friend.
