Exemptions from seat belt wearing

The legislation provides for a number of specific exemptions from the seat belt wearing requirements on medical and other grounds. Please consult your doctor if you think you should not wear a seat belt on medical grounds.
As for the others these include:-

"(b) the driver of or a passenger in a motor vehicle constructed or adapted for carrying goods, while on a journey which does not exceed 50 metres and which is undertaken for the purpose of delivering or collecting any thing;

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

All seatbelts should be worn, after me and my collegue were caught (only yesterday) by traffic police. Luckily they let us off. So make sure you wear your seatbelts at all times.

Yeah Big Up On Caution Here

Lot of us believe we ar exempt from this law how ever, as the driver you are required to wear your belt at all times other than I believe during a reveseing manover might be an idea to check your drivers guide book.
All passengers are required to belt up, lets not forget boys and girls the people in charge of us are only to pleased not to pay out insurance claims if the rules have been broken think of your safety why are we in such a rush that we have not time to belt up. Do it all by the book mail in the back along with all bags you get far less done if you do it properly hey ho thats what they wany.

"50m" - but you won't get away with it saying you thought the "m" was 'miles' not 'metres' :crazy:

The Law may well say you can travel 50 metres maximum without your seatbelt while working, but Royal Mail DO say that your seatbelt must be on at all times. So protect yourself and wear it.
As for those of you carrying passengers in your vehicle i think you may find, though i may be wrong, that you're just as responsable if those passengers are caught without belts. Here's an idea ...... why don't you all wear them :wink:
