If you've been around awhile like a lot of us, postman have in the the past already collapsed and sad to say died whilst out on delivery. A good observation nontheless, but I predict that if their is a substasntial increase in outdoor delivery time as is possible or likely, then it will go the way SDD did, with regards to health and safety. H&S once again will be put on the back burner by management, in order to get the mail out at all costs. With SDD a rearguard action was being fought over health and safety issues.

I think both RM and the CWU are in agreement that in order to preserve full time jobs, the delivery span must be increased. Thats why taking weight off the shoulder is a major prriority when doing an office revision. Using different delivery methods i.e. HCT`s, CDV`s seem to becoming more prevelant. Unfortunetly RM have put the cart before the horse yet again. There should be a national agreement with H and S guidelines to follow before implementation.

:nana Shouldn't really laugh about people collapsing on duty, this has nearly happened to me twice now.do not expect sympathy from management--just the blame. i'm sure everyone here could tell you about really bad days, when their legs have buckled under them, they are frozen to the marrow, but struggle on,only a sense of humour gets you through these days-what has been your worst day, and did you get any sympathy from Management?

Happened at my office last year - A postie collapsed during prep and was taken to hospital in an ambulance. Unfortunately he did not survive. However not sure what caused him to collapse as we were never told, it may have just been his time.
