No, but the mechanic that carried out the work, which there would be a paper trail for, is a trained mechanic.

i have had it confirmed today from the royal mail safety directors dept that the vehicle log book has to be signed when the PMT1was issued and signed off when complete

his email reply to me today

Both documents need to be signed. xxx is on leave but will take it up centrally when he’s back next week.

Regional Fleet & Assets Managers dept are also in the email chain and concur

The logbook is a RM document. I cannot see RAC/Mechanic contractor signing it. It has nothing to do with them.

I would presume it would be upto a RM manager to sign the PMT & logbook off on the say of completion of any works and being told by the mechanic contractor the vehicle was now roadworthy.

the log book may be a royal mail document but it is a legal requirement stipulated by VOSA

a VOSA official or a police officer can demand to see it at any time on request just like a tachograph

do gooders on this site i doubt theres such a thing as a legal requirement to fill a log book in for a normal vehicle say a combo van . it doesnt even prove how long you have been driving
