Does taking your pensions effect your Death in Service benefits ?

Yes!
If you're an active employee member of the RMPP, there's a death in service payment of 4x pay plus the value of your DBCBS fund. But if you've taken some or all of your benefits, the death in service is reduced. I'm not 100% sure what it is, but I think it goes down 2x pay.

It's a similar set up for members of the RMDCP. It's plan guide will tell you more.
I believe that even if you're not in any RM pension, they'll still be a 2x pay death in service pay out.
*It's also proposed that the CDC scheme will have a 4x payment.
