Capita and Pension at 55
I left Royal Mail after 32.5 years service after taking VR. I turned 55 in June and contacted the Pension Centre in Sheffield to apply to take my benefits early. I have received my figures for my NRA 60 & NR65 benefits, but I have received no correspondence from Capita (RMSPS). I have phoned them 3 times, and each time I am told they will be sent out shortly. Hence this post, 3 weeks later, I have still not received anything from Capita. I also cannot return my forms to the RMPP, until I have returned the forms to Capita.
Can anyone please tell me, how can I get things moving, what is the normal timeline for this process. I am going to write this time to Capita rather than phone, I am also wondering if it is worth complaining to the Pensions Ombudsman.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Format must have changed since I took my NRA60 @ 55 in January. I returned my paperwork to RMPP before I had even received anything months later from Capita ? I was given a deadline in each part of the process from RMPP to return paperwork to them within 7 or 14 days depending upon what stage I was at or it would delay the whole process

Mind you I’m still employed so maybe there is a difference in the process if you have left ??

Thanks for your reply, it states on my letter from the RMPP, that "my RMPP and RMSPS benefits must be paid from the same date. You, therefore, need to ensure you have returned your completed option form to Capita".
So, until I receive the forms from Capita, I have hit a brick wall.

Hope it all runs smoothly, my application was a nightmare, not RMPP but Capita, I got there in the end but slightly late. If need be phone and phone until you make progress. Some say the process was a doddle but I’m not so surejazzyd65 wrote:Thanks for your reply, it states on my letter from the RMPP, that "my RMPP and RMSPS benefits must be paid from the same date. Thank you for your message. I phoned again today and was informed my figures are awaiting to be checked over and authorized to be sent out. I will give it 5 more working days and then will email the person you mentioned if I haven't received them.

Go straight to the top and email the Head of Employee Benefits at this email. Richard.Kirwan@capita.com
I found that the first line support people who answer the phone just have a list of excuses. I always used to get that someone was "working" in my file and so it was locked and they couldn't give me an update today but somebody would get back to me. They never did.

One of my colleagues applied on 16th March for her NRA60 @55 which would have been 26th May, she agrees that she should have applied earlier but today she received her small lump sum from RMPP for DBCBS but 5 months later has not received her main lump sum from RMSPS. She phoned Capita today and received a tearse reply “ we have a backlog you know”

Um, I have given them 6 months notice to get my pension in Nov and leave RM in December.david3595 wrote:One of my colleagues applied on 16th March for her NRA60 @55 which would have been 26th May, she agrees that she should have applied earlier but today she received her small lump sum from RMPP for DBCBS but 5 months later has not received her main lump sum from RMSPS. I just spoke to Capita as the RMSPS is the pension that always seems to be paid after the RMPP.
From what I was told this will ALWAYS be the case. The RMSPS (Capita) pension CANNOT be paid until RMSPS have received a "trigger" from RMPP, stating that they are about to pay the RMPP pension.
That trigger takes a small amount of time and checking has to then take place.
Which means that if the "trend" followed for me, I could expect payment of my lump sum by RMSPS about 15 days at least after my RMPP payment date, leaving just enough time to get my first pension payment of 30th November.
RMSPS told me that cannot do any thing about RMPP sending this trigger and cannot pay until they receive it.
This makes RMSPS (Capita) look bad and RMPP look fantastic.
RMSPS did not suggest this was deliberate, but just a by product of the system in place.

Hopefully Stephen500 you will be paid on time as in the conversation she had with RMSPS they said priority was being given to anyone aged 60 rather than taking their NRA60 earlier. Also she was told today to allow up to another 10 working days, she explained that she fully understands there is a backlog but her partner has not worked since 16th March due to COVID-19 but no sympathy was shownstephen500 wrote:Um, I have given them 6 months notice to get my pension in Nov and leave RM in December. I can't go till I get my pension and am starting to think, that I will see in the new year with RM, with Capita having ruined my pre booked trips abroad for Christmas, if the virus does not do that first.david3595 wrote:One of my colleagues applied on 16th March for her NRA60 @55 which would have been 26th May, she agrees that she should have applied earlier but today she received her small lump sum from RMPP for DBCBS but 5 months later has not received her main lump sum from RMSPS. I wonder if they will class me as an NRA 60 "earlier" or as aged 60, as I am taking my NRA 60, 2 months early!.david3595 wrote:Hopefully Stephen500 you will be paid on time as in the conversation she had with RMSPS they said priority was being given to anyone aged 60 rather than taking their NRA60 earlier.
