Scary paperwork NRA 60 and 65

Post by stephen500 »

I have just seen the paper work sent to a colleague 're pensions. I count myself as reasonably intelligent, but some of the questions about have you taken a pension before 2006 and others about life time allowances baffle me. I am not looking forward to going through all this paperwork for NRA 60 and NRA 65 in June. If any kind person has paper work and can guide us through it. I will be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance.

Stephen, I assume you are talking about the paperwork that you receive from Capita for the RMSPS options?
If you are not currently in receipt of any pensions then the answer is no as it will probably be for all 4 of the LTA questions as well.
When you get your pension quotes it will tell you what percentage each option represents of your LTA but as the LTA is currently just over £1,000,000 then I think you will be slightly under this. Out of interest mine were all about 24%. The option with the maximum PCLS was the lowest as you would expect.

For my work colleague, these were from Capita for the small amount of pension and lump sum up to 2010?
The forms just looked so complicated and I have a degree and have tried to understand our pensions with a fine toothcomb.
At the end of the day, we are postman, not chartered accountants!
When I apply in June, I would be so grateful if you could help me with any questions about filling in the options forms from both Captia and the RMPP.
Many thanks in advance!

No problems. Take it from me that everything else you need to return to either Capita or the PSC is really pretty standard stuff.

I am only claiming my NRA60 but firstly I had to return a form giving both Capita and the PSC authority to proceed with calculating my 60 pension.
Then I received estimates from both RMPP (PSC) and RMSPS (Capita). 2 months late starting this but that's another story.
I then had to return a Lifetime Allowance (LTA) form, Bank details and proof of ID (Passport photocopy) to our PSC for the RMPP part of the pension.
I then received the RMPP options pack a few weeks later and returned this to PSC. There were 5 different options in total.
After some delay I then received the RMSPS options pack from Capita. There were only 3 different options mainly size of lump sum (PCLS)
I lastly had to return the LTA form, bank details and the option form back to Capita.

I received my RMPP payment letter this morning and this will be paid at the end of April and lump sum next week.
I only returned the options letter back to Capita 2 days ago so I'm thinking this will probably be paid at the end of May now. As most of my 60 pension is Final Salary then the RMSPS pension is my main one. The RMPP pension is tiny in comparison.

I was 60 in january and remember some of the paperwork confusing for all NRA 60 options. They wanted to know about past pensions from other employers for LTA purposes. I photocopied statements and sent them in for this with all other paperwork. I got letter back apparently I forgot to sign LTA form. My NRA 60 RMPP and RMSPS pensions are paid at end of each month.

When every thing is done, can you give us time frames for both pensions from application to payment. Thanks.

i got confused because when first i got the capita RMSPS letter with a timetable of the weeks certain things should happen
i was supposed to return a capita rmsps form but there was no form to fill in with the letter i got from them
Then a couple of days later i got the RMPP/PSC letter with an option form to return which i have done but i am still not sure if that form covers both the capita/rmsps and the rmpp/psc or just the rmpp/psc
Anyway this week i got the LTA form along with the bank form and have to send if photocopies of passport driving licence and birth certificate so i presume everything is going ahead ok
Although i am still not sure if i should have returned a form to the capita/rmsps or not

Think it's just the one form initially and they contact capita?
Do you have to send photocopies of all of those? I don't have my birth certificate but have the other two.
Have they given you quotes including the current scheme or is that further down the line?

Patrick, the best thing you can do with that timeline document is rip it up and throw it in the bin. It's OK for telling you what documents you should receive from them but as for the weeks counting down to NRA it means nothing. I am now 5 weeks past my NRA and still not received any money yet.

You will get 2 option packs. One from the PSC for your RMPP benefits which you say you have returned and one from Capita for your RMSPS benefits. If you are like me then the RMSPS pension will be your main NRA60 and the RMPP amounts will be negligible in comparison. I received my RMSPS option pack from Capita about 3 weeks after I had returned the RMPP options if that helps. Everything from Capita seems to take a lot longer than from the PSC unfortunately.

I sent just a photocopy of my passport to the PSC. They require a copy of anything official which proves your DOB.
Capita do an electronic ID verification so you don't need to send them anything. Not sure why the PSC can't do this now in the 21st century.
