Is AVC money tied to a particular pension

Post by Hawkey99 »

A colleague said that he thinks AVC money is linked to a particular pension depending on how long you have been paying into the AVC.

I suppose this would sort of make sense that any AVC money you paid in when the NRA 60 was still open would be payable when you take that pension and any AVC money you paid in from when this scheme closed to when the NRA 65 closed you would take with your NRA 65 pension.

Is this the case please.

Thanks

No!

You have to take the whole balance of Bonusplan and/or Flexiplan when taking your benefits.

For example, when taking your NRA60 and assuming you have both Bonusplan & Flexiplan, you could:

Take both pots.
Take one pot and leave the other until you take your NRA65.
Leave both until you take your NRA65.

You will also presumably have the DBCBS, which will provide a lump sum in the same way as AVC's and with the same choices.
