Hello, I joined RM in 1990 and left in 2004 which makes me a section C member. Am I correct in thinking there will be no lump sum available to me? Is it possible to commute some pension to generate a lump sum? I took control of my AVC fund last year and have a current CETV of £76k.
Thank you in advance.

As a section C member you don’t get a lump sum as standard but you get the opportunity to take a smaller pension in return for a lump sum. You’ll be given choices at the time!
I’m not quite sure what you mean by ‘took control of my AVC’, but I assume from another thread that you transferred it into a personal pension, or similar and you’re not likely to incur any tax charges that you wouldn’t have paid by using those AVC’s to fund tax free cash from the RMPP?
Full details of your section C benefits are to be found in the library section of the pensions website.

Thanks again Robert, tried responding three times without success.
Lump sum either way not an issue just needed clarity. Transferred AVC to my SIPP 12 months or so ago, no tax disadvantages envisaged.
Many thanks.
