If you haven't taken any of your pension is there any difference in pension terms if you get IHR before 55 or after 55.
Someone said they they thought you might get enhanced pension if you get IHR and you are over 55.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

IHR Belfre or after 55.
Ill Health Retirement has 2 variants:
1. IHR with lump sum – which is 34 weeks pay plus 9 or 12 weeks PILON.
2. IHR with immediate payment of pension – what you actually get will depend on which section you’re in and your length of service. See the relevant guide on the pensions website.
You will only be offered option 2 if you’re deemed to not be able to work in any capacity anymore.

Why is it 9 weeks or 12 weeks. What constitutes the difference.
Also is all of it taxable ?
Thanks

In the booklet its say about being able to make up payments if you have been off sick on half way etc.
I wonder if you can make these payments up if you are going to be ill health retired ?
