HI There
i was a Post Office employee in the late eighties /early nineties i was employed for around 5 years.
i was in the pension and have a yearly pension plan for £1000 (last pension plan in 2011 forecast) .
Can i take this as a lump sum when i reach 55 next year, and how much would it likely to be ?
Many thanks

With those dates of employment you could be in either Section B or C. Full info on what you can do with your deferred pension is in the relevant guide on the RM pensions website:
Section B(joined before 1st April 1987): http://www.royalmailpensionplan.co.uk/s ... an/library" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Section C(joined on or after 1st April 1987): http://www.royalmailpensionplan.co.uk/s ... an/library" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You should be getting an annual statement informing you of the current value of your pension. If that is not the case, I suggest you contact the pensions people: http://www.royalmailpensionplan.co.uk/s ... l-contacts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
