Ok so forgive me if im wrong am I tied to retiring at NRA or will this new proposal give me the option to retire say at 60 , im 47 ive done 30 yrs and I cannot see me physically doing this job when im 68 especially the way its going. Any proposal offering me my pension only at NRA is pointless imho.

I don’t think that any of the official literature concerning the CWU’s proposed WinRS scheme mentions being able to take it earlier than SPA, although I think Dingo might have mentioned it in one of his posts?

But I don’t think it really needs to be mentioned! Because the legal minimum age to access any pension is currently 55. I don’t see how that can be any different with this proposal – neither the CWU or RM make the law!

We can draw our NRA60 and NRA65 anytime after 55 if we choose to, with reductions applied. If the WinRS pension is introduced, there is no logical reason why it won’t be the same.

I think many people would want to draw their WinRS pension earlier than SPA for the reasons you’ve given. Which suggests the figures quoted as providing a retirement income better than the existing CARE and FS scheme, will be way off the mark in practice, even if the investments did work out at SPA.

Thank you Robert for your reply im getting to the age where I am thinking about my pension a lot more and im not ashamed to admit its just a minefield to understand

Not the Vince Cable man of fable who is unable to do anything about it because of only 8 MPs and a man called Farron from Arron without a clue what to do in any situation apart from blaming everyone but himself and Nick Clegg!
