Deferring your state pension and getting your supplement?

Post by fly-catchers »

If you are in section C and you get a RMPP supplement till your state pension starts. If you should defer your state pension by a year or more beyond the age it would normally be paid do you still get the RM pension supplement until you actually chose to the state pension?

I've never seen your specific query mentioned anywhere, but all the documentation states that we get the supplement from the time we take our pensions and leave RM, until we reach state pension age. I take that to mean that the supplement will stop at SPA whether we actually take the state pension or not.

What happens then if you take your Pension early and carry on working till say 60, then leave the Business (retire), would you then be able to claim supplement from 60 till SPA ? :wave :wave

Yes, you would still get the supplement until SPA. But if you've taken your pension early the supplement would also be reduced by the usual 5% per year, regardless of when you actually start to get it.
