on hearing about talks to close the defined benefit scheme, it got me thinking about the contributions to MOYA'S pension and that of senior management, it strikes me that these people earn such vast sums of money, it should be encumbent on them to sort there own pensions out and not rely on royal mail for their generous pensions, they certaintly earn enough money to do so, and it would be interesting to know how much money is paid to their pensions!!!!

The managers are affected by the pension changes and Unite (their Union) are kicking off as well. There is a chance that any action taken will be by both unions.

As to non-union members, unfortunately, treating them differently from other staff would be illegal.

To be "fair" on her salary of £1.5mil if she was on the Direct Contribution scheme the same as us, if she paid in 6% RM would pay 9% (£135,000) that's not that far off the mark.

If RM are going to cut their pension contribution by 7% then they have to accept that my productivity and attendance will be dropping by the same figure.

As with all re-numeration packages if they RM renege upon the deal from last time expect de-motivated staff and more disruption in the workplace. No one can expect a happy workforce when you work them harder for longer and in turn the quality will go down pensions were made to value the workforce now we working for Royal Mail are being devalued where is the incentive in that! Not only that how can a new pension scheme with all it's liability's before 1/4/2012 written off in such a short time be in such difficulty's it beggars belief something is fishy here is it not? And yet we get glossy propaganda through our door's with more propaganda in the office and without doubt a work time indoctrination session and probably a badge saying I am not worthy of a decent pension and Hail MOYA!

At least they have the option to sell their million pound asset and "Escape to the Country". FJ This is exactly what a lot of people have done that I deliver too. I'll say, "That's not a local accent"? and they'll say, "No me and the missus retired, sold our 2 bedroom flat for £X and bought this 5 bedroom house"! Slightly different scenario if you're not asset rich, and may be relying on that extra £1800 a year pension to make ends meet.

I believe that ANY attack on ANY workers pensions is despicable! It's too late when you've put in 30 or 40 years work, and are basically worked out, to have some Suit readjust the figures on a spread sheet and STEAL money from your Pension Pot.

As for these people like Richard Green, and the Financial Movers & Shakers that caused the Banking Crisis , I firmly believe they should be pursued through the courts and jailed if found guilty. The fact they escape any came back simply because they're in the "Old Boys Club" is disgusting!

Moya doesn't get a pension from RM, the senior management pension scheme was closed to new entrants years ago, what she actually gets is an annual payment in lieu of a pension, (about £200k) which she can invest in any way she wants. Very few senior managers of FTSE companies bother with a pension, they don't usually hang about long enough to make it worth their while so they would rather have the cash bung. What it also means is that if the pension or indeed the company goes south, their wedge is safely tucked up in the Cayman islands.

Maybe Moya is Asset rich/cash poor then?? Especially if she is squirrelling all her loose change abroad
