Royal Mail is extending its popular employee matched giving scheme to retired employees

Royal Mail will match the fundraising efforts of its 190,000 pensioners up to the amount of £50 per person, per year

The idea to extend the matched giving scheme was presented by John Purser, a retired Royal Mail Administration Manager

The scheme builds on the support Royal Mail already offers to its employees, who raised more than £3 million for hundreds of charities last year

Up to £50 per person each year will be matched by Royal Mail, up to a total limit of £100,000

Thousands of Royal Mail pensioners are now able to contribute more to those in need, with the company announcing it is extending its popular matched giving scheme to retired employees. Royal Mail will now match the fundraising efforts of its 190,000 pensioners up to the amount of £50 per person, per year, for funds for any UK registered charity or registered good cause. The scheme builds on the support Royal Mail already offers to its employees, who have a long and proud tradition of supporting charities. Last year, our people raised more than £3 million for hundreds of charities, with Royal Mail contributing £7.6 million. The employee scheme allows for our people to claim up to £2,500 per person per year for those raising money for our Charity of the Year and matched giving of up to £200 per person per year for those raising money for any other registered charity or good cause. Lily Heinemann, Royal Mail Head of Corporate Responsibility and Community Investment, said: “We are proud to support Royal Mail pensioners in their fundraising efforts. The idea to extend our matched giving scheme was originally presented to us by one of our retired Administration Managers, John Purser, and we thought it was a great way to recognise the contribution our retired employees continue to make to their local communities.” John Purser, a retired Royal Mail Administration Manager, said: “I am really pleased to see Royal Mail is adopting this initiative to help retired employees with their fundraising efforts. When I worked for Royal Mail, we were encouraged to get involved in charitable causes and it’s great that the company is continuing to support the fundraising activities of past and present employees.” Royal Mail and our employees have a long tradition of supporting charitable activities. Our payroll giving scheme began in 1989 and, to date, has supported over 1,300 charities across the UK with more than £53 million. It holds the Platinum Payroll Giving Quality Mark Excellence Award and a Guinness World Record for the most registered charities supported through a payroll giving scheme. Royal Mail also sets a target of raising £2 million over two years for its Charity of the Year partner, which is selected by our employees. In 2014-15, we raised over £640,000, including matched giving, for our Charity of the Year programme. We also provided a further £188,000 to other charities through our matching giving and grants scheme, a 40 per cent increase on the previous year. Royal Mail will match the fundraising efforts of retired employees up to £50 per person each year, up to a total limit of £100,000. I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
