If you’re a member of the Royal Mail Pension Plan, look out for your personalised Benefit Illustration, landing on doormats during September. Published once a year, it shows what your pension and death benefits are worth, as well as your options at retirement.
Included with your Benefit Illustration will be the member version of the Plan’s Report and Accounts so you can see how it’s performing, as well as the latest news and views of some of the people looking after your pension.
Cutting through jargon
Both communications mark a change in how the Trustees talk about pensions.
Many people find pensions complicated. So the Trustees have been talking to members to find out what needs to change - cutting through jargon and making pensions easier to understand topped the list.
You’ll also be seeing a lot more of Cyril the Squirrel as the Trustees try and make the world of pensions a little less formal, and a little more fun.
At the same time though, they’ll be giving you more, not less, of the vital information you need to make the right decisions for you. To this end, they’re also working on a new look website, which is coming soon.
