Post by banfboysdad »

My mate at work has taken a buy down from 39 to 23 hours. He was offered either 17,000 cash or 19,000 into his pension. He took the cash but does anyone know anything about them putting into your pension instead?

Never heard of money being put into the pension itself. Tbh for me it would be a no brainer. Boosting your pension would be my choice. If you take a buy down you will be contributing LESS into the pension in future years so will get less later on.Alternatively, take the money and place into some well chosen ISA funds. 3 of mine have returned above 10% in 1 year.
