Hi all
I was given IHR in 2003 due to having Crohn's disease and at the time I was totally unable to work ( as an Account Manager) or do anything else.
It has now been 11 years and my Crohns is a lot better and I would like to do a few hours paid employment a week. My question is, is this ok as I would not want to have my pension stopped. I have spoken to RM Pensions and they have stated that I can return to work as long as it's not RM or any other their companies, they even sent me a letter stating I could work for another organisation and I would still receive my pension.
I have heard a couple of horror stories where individuals have gone back to work and have had their pensions stopped, I'm very confused at the moment as I would like to do something.
Many thanks

Re: IHR back to work
Whether someone can return to work after taking IHR will depend on the rules of their pension scheme. If I were you, I'd write to the trustees of the RM pension scheme rather than just the service centre and get it confirmed by them.Jasey100769 wrote:Hi all

Were the 'horror stories' of posties or people in other jobs?I have heard a couple of horror stories where individuals have gone back to work and have had their pensions stopped, I'm very confused at the moment as I would like to do something.

Nothing stopping you working the day after you were medically retired unless the RM
Could prove you committed fraud in receiving your pension .
