Redunancy payments

Not sure if this has been covered but here goes. There is a rumour going round that if we get these shares after a sell off, that we forgo any redundancy payments, if at a later date, you lose your job. Can anybody shed any light on this? Our local rep is telling everyone that this is the case. Cheers for any info.
