While I don't particularly agree with privatisation, as far as the pension scheme is concerned, it could well be a good thing.

That means that th £26bn in the pension fund will go into Goverment coffers - to pay off part of the deficit'.

Once the Government has control of our pensions though, they could decide they can be frozen or cut - it has happened in Italy.

Going forward, yes they could change the scheme in the future, but then again so could Royal Mail.

Governments change Laws by act of parliament . the golden rule of 'no retrospective legislation' has already been broken, there is precedent so all that can be claimed is the law as it stands.
Best not to put all your faith in the lawmakers
Not to mention the possibility of some richly rewarded legal ferret managing to find a technicality or invent an interpretation of existing law that enables a judicial ruling that invalidates your pension entitlement.
After all ,we know how successful the rich and powerful have become at undermining the spirit of the law when it suits their agenda

If i was in the pension scheme i would be considing withdrawing it now while it is still there, you may not get all of it but will at least get some.

Should point out that Cap'n Bob was very much a Labour man ,wasn't he an MP at one point.I stopped buying the Mirror when he took it over and Clive Thornton left as Chairman.
