If you get sacked, what happens to your pension ?

Post by Thorby Bislam »

Those three postmen who were sacked for not wearing bike helmets, will they lose their pensions ?
If I, or any other postman should fall foul of the H & S rules, would we lose our pensions ?
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Under normal circumstances you keep whatever you've paid in but the RM portion is lost.

As far as I can remember its is a possibility but not a given. However, IIRC they do get back what they paid in if they are kicked out of the pension scheme.

better to resign sometimes :hmmmm - the Social would treat it as a good reason to " leave a job " & keep your pension , anybody with any people skills would say put your notice in ( Managers are given that option :evil/mad ) but it's RM :arrrghhh - problem is that constructive dismissal in a ET is harder to prove

I've seen somebody win a tribunal and RM had to put all that pension money back , I've seen someone frog - marched off by the IB with six weeks to go , he'd secreted parcels etc in the false ceiling of the gents , they never prosecuted but he lost the RM part of the pension , this is when RM were " relatively " benign though .

However elsewhere prior to privatization , they threw someone to the wolves to protect their sorry arses and sacked him , he took them to a tribunal and won & was reinstated . However they put him back as a new starter pension wise which seemed to be vindictive :hmmmm . They had to get the equivalent of area branch secretary or even regional to take this chilling and inhuman manager on , he did eventually back down after a hell of row and this union guy was a local legend ; he was actually a council leader , the jumped up idiots he dealt with for the union were nothing in comparison .
