Royal mail and state pension
So my friend who retired 6 months before me is due to get his first state pension payment next month, he had a letter from royal mail to say when his state pension kicks in they will deduct £1500 a year from his royal mail pension, why can they do this.

Re: Royal mail and state pension
The most obvious answer to this, is he was in section C(originally POPS).
People in that scheme built up a supplement, which is paid out alongside their main pension but only until state pension age, and only if they've left RM employment.
It's always been part of section C and is in all the rules and documents associated with that scheme.
There's more info on both the RMPP and RMSPS websites.
*Section C members will have joined sometime between 1st April 1987 and 31st March 2008.
