Moving - updating RM pension providor

Post by Winseer »

How do I contact Pensions so my pension when it becomes due - doesn't get sent to whomever bought my old residence I'm moving out of?

I'd like to transfer my files to C/O my Parents address, if that's legal and possible to do?

I then have access to any mail sent to me *there* that I would lose contact with, as the person buying my property is a complete stranger, and I don't know the address of the new place I'm moving to - yet.

What about contacting them and advising of a change of address ? When you settle in a permanent address do it again, in the short term don't forget as an employee you get free mail redirection which you can set up yourself on the people app.

In answer to this and the other posts on 3 different threads(viewtopic.php?p=1121741#p1121741, viewtopic.php?p=1121743#p1121743, viewtopic.php?p=1121747#p1121747):

It sounds as if you're approaching 60 and have received your options forms from the RM Statutory Pension scheme(RMSPS), which is administered by Capita?
If you worked for RM anytime after 1st April 2012, you should also get a letter from the RM Pension Plan(RMPP).

See their websites for more info and contact details, etc.

I have more than two decades service before I left prior to 2012 under the MTSF VR.

It seems the pension has changed hands since then, but all I'm getting through the mail are scam-like letters asking me to provide my private info rather than telling me how much I've got "if I took my pension at age 60" which is really relevant THIS year.....

Last year's such letter - suggested I'd be getting a weekly pension payment of over £300....
I've yet to have one this year yet, but then again - it is only march...

What I'm worried about is if I move out to anywhere other than my parent's old house - I won't be able to update anyone as to my new address because I don't know it myself yet!

I'm not planning on "phase" moving out where I continue paying my current mortage and take on a rent on top... It's bad enough that I even have to consider "Renting" when it's twice what my mortgage currently cost me.
"Welcome to the real world" I guess.....

What I'd like to do is phone someone up who I can actually speak to who will tell *me* what my standing is when I give them the personal info they should already have on me, such as my RM particulars from years ago.....
How do I contact the pension provider that doesn't involve me phoning a dubious non-geographic switchboard or writing to a "PO Box number"?

I don't know for certain what info they're asking for, but I would guess one of them is the Lump Sum & Death Allowance? Which is just to ensure you're sticking to the law in terms of the maximum lump sum/s you can take from all of your pensions.
I doubt they'll pay your pension if you don't complete it.
More info on that is here: https://www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/pensi ... r-pensions

Plus they may want to confirm your identity, which is perfectly reasonable considering you left a while ago and they'll be paying you a certain amount of money for the rest of your life.

Whenever I've phoned them, and lots of other places too, I'm often asked to confirm my address and date of birth, etc. It enables them to put my details into their system and see who they're talking to, so to speak. It's common practice and makes perfect sense!

The RMSPS use a non geographic phone number, a PO Box and email as their forms of contact. Just like lots of other organisations.
They all get you through to the people you want to talk to!
Does it really matter if the number doesn't include a local code? :hmmmm

RM redirection? Might be a good place to start if you're having trouble getting in touch with pension provider? Just noticed that's already been suggested
