16 week wait for dcbs funds why ?

Post by fatcat1uk »

I have now turned 65 ,1 am in section B pension joined 1986.
I chose option 2 ,smaller pension larger tax free lump sum received both day after birthday ,nil from dcbs. My understanding now having spoken to rmpp is that there is now a 16 week wait for them to pay out the tax free sum and taxable sum from dcbs .my question is why the wait ,when I have already expressed my intentions to take these choices 12 weeks ago ,surely the dcbs could have been sorted during that 12 week period rather than waiting until I am 65 and 4months old ,again question why the wait ?

I can’t tell you why but you might find in your case taking it 16 weeks after you’ve taken your pension will mean you’re taking it in a different tax year, so if you’re leaving, reducing your hours or cutting out overtime you’re more likely to remain in the 20% tax band rather than 40%, every cloud as they say.
